Newer translations may allow one to quickly grasp the basic story, but, once one is acclimated to the KJV,
one realizes how imprecise the modern translations are, with their simplified wording and grammatical shortcuts.
(For example, in Acts 3:25, the KJV shows the phrase "the covenant which God made with your fathers,"
whereas the NIV drops the "which," making the phrase "the covenant God made with your fathers." This choice
seems to be based on "flow" and a presumption of clarity. You will never see such presumption made in the KJV.)
Further, the KJV uses constructions not standard even in 1611 English, to vigilantly preserve Hebrew & Greek features.

There are no grammar inconsistencies in the KJV; every passage is instructive for correct English grammar.
There are no spelling mistakes in the KJV (although the 1611 printing shows variants, due to printing limitations).
The 1769 printing, which is the accepted standard, uses revised & rigorous spelling.

"Syllables" = Thousands of Syllables, approximated.
(Multiply by 2.5 for the minutes-duration at 400BPM.)

 Making Abbreviations:

  • 3-Letter Abbreviations: Just use the first 3 letters.
(It's hard to abbreviate Jude to distinguish from Judges,
but the content is very dissimilar & won't be confused.)
  • 2-Letter Abbreviations: Use these sparingly!
Take first letter, and add first consonant that follows
(or add first unique consonant, in these five cases
where a duplicate would result: Jd Ez Nh Hb Ph).
You could change Chronicles & Timothy to X & Y.

I used a script to collect every unique word in the KJV. ("Derivative" words, ending in -s, -ing, -'s, etc., also count as unique words.)
3,600 are Names, and 9,228 are English words, which is the whole vocabulary of the KJV (again, all derivatives are added into this total).
Many Hebrew names from the OT are re-used in the NT but with new spelling (based on Greek rendering); they count as new names.

Key Grammar/Terms - Unfamiliar or Difficult Terms in the King James version

Here is a list to check out: Bible-Word-List-and-Reading-Plan.pdf

Select examples of my own:

  • Which: adds further description
vs That: specifies a defining condition
  • Wherefore: "for which reason" (non-exclusive)
vs Therefore: "for that reason" (precisely)
  • Burden: the Word (or a message) from the Lord, which one must carry to others
  • Yoke: a faithful follower is "yoked" to carry the Word, as a body draws a laden vehicle.
When one does not push away the burden, his body IS the vehicle (or ark: a living temple) which keeps the Word.
